TobyMac works up to 'Winter Wonder Slam'

Christian rock/funk/hip-hop artist tobyMac has assembled the dates for this year's "Winter Wonder Slam" tour.

The performer's current summer/fall schedule wraps in mid-October, and the winter outing is set to kick off Nov. 11 in Rome, GA. TobyMac and his DiverseCity band will headline "Winter Wonder Slam," with Relient K , Family Force 5 and newcomer B.Reith rounding out the bill. The trek, which is detailed below, is set to visit nearly 20 cities across the US through Dec. 14.

TobyMac, who was one-third of the award-winning Christian group dc Talk, continues to support his third solo release, 2007's "Portable Sounds." The set entered The Billboard 200 at No. 10 and topped the Christian album chart, making it tobyMac's highest solo debut to date.

The album was also nominated for a couple of Grammys and won Dove Awards for Rock/Contemporary Album of the Year and Short Form Video of the Year for the song "Boomin'." The Gospel Music Association also named tobyMac the Dove Awards' 2008 Artist of Year.

The performer followed "Portable Sounds" with his first concert film, "Alive and Transported," which was released in a DVD/CD package last May. The film was recorded in Houston during a sold-out stop on last year's "Portable Sounds Fall Tour," and was shown in movie theaters as a one-night-only engagement in June.

A few songs from the live set are streaming at tobyMac's MySpace page.
