This season's " Nashville Star " winner, Melissa Lawson, will hit the road next month with the reality-TV show's three runners-up: Gabe Garcia, Shawn Mayer and Coffey.
The "Nashville Star" live extravaganza is scheduled to kick off Sept. 12 with a two-night stand in St. Louis, MO, and visit cities across the US through late November. A stop is also scheduled in Rama, Ontario. Details are listed below.
Lawson, a 32-year-old mother of five from Arlington, TX, beat finalists Garcia and Mayer Aug. 4 to grab the sixth "Nashville Star" title. The win earned her a recording contract with Warner Bros. Nashville and a spot at the 2008 Summer Olympics' opening ceremonies in Beijing.
Lawson's first single, "What If It All Goes Right," has already topped the iTunes country chart, and the singer is expected to record an album with "Nashville Star" judge John Rich of Big & Rich, according to Entertainment Weekly.
In addition to Rich, this season's judge panel was made up of Grammy-nominated singer/songwriter Jewel and BMI Songwriter of the Year Jeffery Steele. Billy Ray Cyrus handled hosting duties.
The latest "Nashville Star" competition moved to NBC-TV after five seasons on cable's USA Network. More than 45,000 singers auditioned--more than double that of last season, according to the show's website.
Over the years, the reality-TV program has helped launch the careers of performers including Miranda Lambert , Buddy Jewel and Chris Young .
