With a new album on the shelves, pianist/composer Jim Brickman is getting ready for his 2008 holiday tour.
The performer will finish his current US outing this weekend and then head to Southeast Asia in late October. His holiday trek officially kicks off Nov. 28 in Thousand Oaks, CA, and covers nearly 30 US cities from coast to coast through Dec. 31. Beyond that, Brickman has also booked a host of shows through next summer. Stateside gigs are listed below and those overseas can be found at his website.
Brickman's new album, "Unspoken," surfaced earlier this month and snagged the No. 1 spot on Billboard's Top New Age Albums chart. The set is the musician's first all-solo piano release since "No Words" launched his career 14 years ago.
Brickman recently told the Harrisonburg Daily News Record that "Unspoken" is about simplifying things.
"Even though I really think of myself as a songwriter and I love to collaborate with other people, I thought I'd go back to the roots, go back to the piano playing and really focus on what I think I do best--which is solo piano."
Brickman is known for past collaborations with guest vocalists including Martina McBride ("Valentine"), Sara Evans ("Never Alone") and ex-Lonestar member Richie McDonald ("Coming Home For Christmas").
Last year, the pianist released a pair of albums: "Homecoming," which features the McDonald collaboration and another with country singer/songwriter Victoria Shaw, and "Hope," an instrumental collection that continues Brickman's string of inspirational offerings.
The performer released his first album, "No Words," for Windham Hill Records in 1994. The song "Rocket to the Moon" from that disc became the first solo instrumental ever to be ranked on the Billboard charts, according to a press release.
Brickman has since racked up six gold and platinum album awards, a slew of Top 10 adult contemporary radio hits, a Grammy nomination, a Dove Award and several other honors.
