Kenny Rogers looks forward to 2009 with new dates

Kenny Rogers has started to look beyond the latest installment of his annual Christmas tour into next year, with dates beginning to stack up for the tireless performer through the first two months of 2009.

The veteran country star has a handful of mainly Midwestern dates lined up before launching into his 27th annual "Christmas & Hits" tour, which kicks off Nov. 16 in Victoria, British Columbia. The holiday jaunt currently comprises more than 20 dates across Canada and the Eastern US.

Following the holiday run, Rogers has sketched out plans for next year, with nine shows already set through February, Dates are included below.

Rogers continues to support his latest studio set, "Water & Bridges," which surfaced in 2006 and reached No. 14 on The Billboard 200 and No. 5 on the country albums chart, making it his highest-charting album in more than 23 years. The record spawned the Top 20 country hit "I Can't Unlove You" and scored a Grammy nomination for the Rogers/Don Henley duet "Calling Me."

The singer has since charted a number of best-of compilations, including this year's "A Love Song Collection," and released "The Journey" DVD, which comprises recent concert footage and a career-spanning video biography.

The three-time Grammy winner recently told the Epoch Times that he's finished eight songs for a new album. He added that, these days, he's less concerned about recording hit tunes and would rather turn his focus to having something important to say.

Rogers charted his first single in 1958 and has become the only artist to chart a record in each of the last six decades, according to a press release. He has earned 20 platinum album certifications, 22 No. 1 hits and record sales topping 105 million units worldwide.
