John Legend hitches tour dates to 'Evolver'

R&B artist John Legend will unleash new material on the road later this year when he takes "Evolver," his forthcoming studio set, out for a run of theater shows.

The Ohio-born soul singer will kick off the run Nov. 19 in Minneapolis and will hit 14 cities through mid-December. The singer's Columbia Records labelmate, Raphael Saadiq, will provide opening support on all dates. Details are below.

Due in stores Oct. 28, "Evolver" features guest contributions from OutKast's Andre 3000, hip-hop/soul singer Estelle, pop singer Brandy and Kanye West, who also lends his skills on the production end, along with Will.I.Am and The Neptunes.

The set's first single, "Green Light," hit radio waves in late July. "We wanted to mix a current, modern feel with an old-school, classic Hollywood feel because the song has kind of a big-band quality to it as well as a more modern dance-song quality," Legend told MTV News recently. "We wanted to mix the two different parts."

Legend's previous release, 2006's "Once Again," sold more than 231,000 copies during its first week in stores and entered The Billboard 200 album chart at No. 3, according to Legend's publicist.

The album--which peaked at No. 1 on the R&B Album chart--earned Legend a Grammy award last year for Best Male R&B Vocal Performance (for "Heaven"). Legend also shared a trophy with Joss Stone for Best R&B Performance By a Duo or Group with Vocals for their cover of Sly & The Family Stone's "Family Affair"
