Citizen Cope maps Southern headlining shows

Singer/songwriter Clarence Greenwood--better known as Citizen Cope --will take to the road early next year for a headlining tour across the US South.

The Tennessee native (and current Brooklyn, NY, resident) kicks off the run Jan. 27 in Towson, MD. The singer will be backed by his full band on the 20-city outing, unlike his recent string of solo acoustic shows, a trek that continues with three additional dates in Canada, beginning Nov. 27 in Fredericton, New Brunswick. The complete itinerary is included below.

Cope continues to back his most recent album, 2006's "Every Waking Moment." The set, which is the singer's third studio effort and second for the RCA label, peaked at No. 69 on The Billboard 200 album chart.

Earlier this year, Cope was released from his RCA contract and is mulling his options for future releases, according to a recent interview with Billboard.com.

"I'm kind of considering my own imprint, maybe in conjunction with a major label, but we'll see," he said.

The singer, who makes a guest duet appearance on Dido's just-released album, "Safe Trip Home," announced several months ago on his website that a new solo acoustic album would be forthcoming in December, but no new details have emerged yet on a possible release date.
