Wu-Tang Clan adds dates as tour keeps rolling

Wu-Tang Clan , who recently launched their 2008/2009 winter tour, have penciled in a few more dates for the run, and are gearing up for the release on their Wu Music Group label of a new RZA-produced soundtrack album.

The hip-hop icons hit the road at the end of November, and currently are working their way through an itinerary that stretches into mid-January. Since last check, they've tacked on stops in Pittsburgh and the Boston area, as well as in Jacksonville and Tampa, FL. Details are included below.

After wrapping up his current roadwork with Wu Tang, group member The RZA and his brother, Mitchell "Divine" Diggs, will turn their attention to the Jan. 27 release of "Afro Samurai: The Resurrection." The set, which is the season-two soundtrack for Spike TV's animated television series of the same name, features work by members of the Wu-Tang Clan, as well as by Sly Stone, Kool G Rap, Rah Digga, and a "whole cast of RZA's proteges," including late Wu-Tang member Ol' Dirty Bastard's son Boy Jones, according to a press release.

The "Afro Samurai" soundtrack will mark the second release on the Wu Music Group label, which is headed up by RZA and Diggs. The label's inaugural release is Wu-Tang's most recent album of original material, last year's "8 Diagrams," which marked the group's first new studio effort since 2001.

In October, Wu-Tang Clan released the concert DVD "Live at Montreux 2007," which was filmed at last year's Montreux Jazz Festival. The set captures a rare gathering of the full Clan--RZA, GZA, Method Man, Inspectah Deck, Raekwon The Chef, U-God, Ghostface Killah and Masta Killa--and also includes Wu-Tang extended family members Cappadonna, Streetlife and DJ Mathematics.

Wu-Tang followed up the live set with last month's CD/DVD set "Wu: The Story of The Wu-Tang Clan." The DVD houses a documentary about the group, while the companion CD features Wu-Tang classics and solo material from Raekwon, Ol' Dirty Bastard, Ghostface Killah and Cappadonna.
