The Hold Steady keeps 'Positive' energy flowing on road
Alt-rockers The Hold Steady have lined up their first US concert trek of 2009, an early spring tour that finds the band continuing to support this summer's "Stay Positive" LP.
The Brooklyn-based rockers kick off the outing March 31 in Albany, NY, with travel to 13 cities scheduled through the middle of April. The band will forsake bigger cities this time out in favor of less-traveled destinations, including Grand Rapids, MI (4/2), Iowa City, IA (4/7) and Sacramento, CA (4/15). Dates are below.
In February, the band will travel overseas for a slate of Australian dates. Details can be found at the group's MySpace page.
The Hold Steady is supporting its July release, "Stay Positive," which earned the Brooklyn-based quintet its best chart position to date: No. 30 on The Billboard 200. The lead single, "Sequestered in Memphis," is streaming at the band's MySpace page.
The new record, produced by John Agnello (Son Volt, Dinosaur Jr.), came together while the The Hold Steady was touring the world behind 2006's critically lauded "Boys and Girls in America," according to the group's publicist. That outing saw the band play more than 200 shows in 2007 alone.
