Cheech & Chong reunion to stay lit through spring

Cheech Marin and Tommy Chong will continue their reunion over the next several months, with the pair adding a raft of new dates to their "Light Up America" tour since last check.

The comedy duo, which kicked off the comeback bid last September, continues the trek Thursday night (1/8) in Nashville, TN, and the outing currently stretches into April. Dates are below.

Cheech & Chong --who released nine comedy albums between 1972 and 1985, along with eight feature films, including the surprise 1978 box-office hit "Up in Smoke"--originally broke up in the '80s amid creative differences. Marin told the Associated Press that the pair has tried to reunite in the past, but always ended up fighting too much with each other.

"It takes about 3 minutes for that to happen. There's this veiled hatred," he said. "We've kind of resolved that. We've gotten to the age where we don't feel like fighting anymore because the end is a lot closer than the beginning."

Marin has spent most of his time since the breakup working in Hollywood and making frequent appearances in movies and television, while Chong has resumed his standup comedy career after serving eight months in prison in 2003 and 2004 for selling drug paraphernalia over the Internet

The duo will record an upcoming show for a future feature-length television program, which subsequently will be released on DVD, according to a recent press release.
