Bette Midler reveals next round of Vegas shows

Bette Midler is celebrating the one-year anniversary of her Las Vegas spectacular, "The Showgirl Must Go On," by announcing more dates.

The over-the-top production at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace continues in late March with a two-week run, and 22 more performances have just been added in May and June. An updated schedule is listed below.

Tickets for the May/June shows go on sale at the Colosseum box office and through Ticketmaster (LiveDaily's parent company) this Friday (2/20), which is "Showgirl"'s official one-year anniversary. Prices range from around $45 to $230, plus service charges.

"'The Showgirl Must Go On' is not only the biggest show of my career, it's the biggest show in the history of show business," Midler boasted in a press release. "I can't believe I've already been in Vegas for a year, but if you haven't seen me yet, get your butt down here. I am giving Sin City a roasting and toasting she'll never forget."

The 90-minute spectacle features a repertoire complete with some of the Divine Miss M's favorite characters, like Delores Delago--the wheelchair-bound mermaid--and Soph, the oldest living showgirl in Las Vegas. It also includes a 13-piece band, 20 female dancers and Midler's backup singers, the Harlettes, performing in front of a glittering, Broadway-style backdrop.

In 2007, Midler signed a minimum two-year deal to perform at the $95 million Colosseum, which was built in 2003 for Celine Dion's "A New Day" spectacular. "The Showgirl Must Go On" plays approximately 100 times per year, five nights a week at the 4,300-seat theater, which is dark on Mondays and Thursdays.

During her 40-year career, Midler--known for her bawdy humor, revealing costumes and distinctive voice--has earned four Grammys, four Golden Globes, three Emmys and a Tony. Her most recent studio albums include 2006's "Cool Yule," 2005's "Bette Midler Sings the Peggy Lee Songbook" and 2003's "Bette Midler Sings the Rosemary Clooney Songbook." Last November, the superstar also put out the live CD/DVD set "Diva Las Vegas."
