Snoop Dogg Avoids Jail In Plea Deal

Rapper Snoop Dogg--real name Cordozar Calvin Broadus Jr.--avoided a jail sentence by pleading guilty yesterday to one count of felony possession of a deadly weapon, according to reports.

Broadus--who was arrested at John Wayne Airport in September of last year for trying to enter a terminal with a collapsible baton in his luggage--was sentenced to 160 hours of community service and three years' of probation; he also must make a $10,000 charitable donation.

Barring any parole violations, Broadus' felony conviction would be reduced to a misdemeanor a year from now.

Earlier this year, Broadus pleaded no contest to felony gun and marijuana charges and agreed to five years' probation and 800 hours of community service.
