Billy Joel 's breakout album, "The Stranger," will be released July 8 in two special editions--a 2 CD Legacy edition and a deluxe limited edition including 2 CDs plus a bonus DVD, according to a press release.
"The Stranger--30th Anniversary" package celebrates the multi-platinum album that catapulted Joel into pop music superstardom. Originally released in 1977, Joel's fifth studio album, "The Stranger," was the first of Joel's collaborations with producer Phil Ramone. "The Stranger" became one of the top-selling albums of the year, won two Grammys and generated several of Joel's most memorable singles including "Just the Way You Are," and "Only the Good Die Young."
The limited deluxe edition of "The Stranger" includes a CD of the original album, remastered by Ramone, a CD of a previously unreleased concert, "Live At Carnegie Hall 1977," and a DVD showcasing two live promotional videos and Joel's 1978 appearance on the BBCs "Old Grey Whistle Test," which aired only once on the UKs BBC2. The limited deluxe edition also contains a 48-page booklet and numerous photos, including never-before-seen images from the original photo shoot for the album.
The Legacy edition contains a smaller booklet, the original album and the live concert--however no DVD is included in the package.
