Ponderosa Stomp returns to New Orleans

Wanda Jackson , Howard Tate, James Burton, Dan Penn and Otis Clay will be among the artists to perform at the eighth annual Ponderosa Stomp April 28-29 at the House of Blues in New Orleans. Additional highlights of this year's event, which once again will celebrate unsung heroes of American music, will be the appearance of Cyril Jordan and Roy Loney of the Flamin' Groovies, who have not played a full set together since 1971, according to a press release.

The 2009 edition of the Stomp will feature an expanded three-day conference of panel discussions and a Ponderosa Stomp-curated exhibition at the Louisiana State Museum at The Cabildo in New Orleans. The 2nd Annual Music Conference and Exhibit is presented in partnership with The Louisiana State Museum and the Rock N' Roll Hall of Fame and Museum.

Additional artists scheduled to appear include Roddy Jackson, Alton Lott, Carl Mann, The Hi Rhythm Section, Question Mark and the Mysterians, The Legendary Stardust Cowboy, Lil Buck Senegal and the Top Cats featuring Stanley "Buckwheat Zydeco" Dural, Deke Dickerson and the Eccofonics, and Lazy Lester among others.

The Ponderosa Stomp Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to celebrating the legacy, revitalizing the careers and preserving the history of the architects of American music.
