Singer/songwriter Brandi Carlile has added a new leg of dates to her ongoing acoustic tour, which is now set to sprawl across the country into early summer.
The performer kicked off her latest jaunt back in February, and will continue the outing tonight (4/3) in South Portland, ME.
The trek's fresh leg commences May 14 in Richmond, VA, taking Carlile through the Southern US and then on to the West Coast, where the tour finishes up June 11 in Portland, OR. Details are included below.
Carlile continues to support her most recent studio effort, 2007's "The Story," which was produced by Grammy-winner T Bone Burnett (Counting Crows, Roy Orbison), and features Indigo Girls' Amy Ray and Emily Saliers on one of its tracks, "Cannonball."
According to a recent interview with Paste Magazine, Carlile has been working on material for a new studio album for more than a year.
"Like 'The Story,' some of the songs have been around," Carlile told the publication about writing material for the new album. "I tend to feel really protective of songs, and if they aren't sitting well in a record, I'll pull them tight to my chest until I feel it's a better time. Some of the songs we have been playing on the road for a couple of years as we tend to cultivate our songs on stage."
The still-untitled set is tentatively scheduled to surface this summer or fall.
