The members of indie-pop group Mates of State , Kori Gardner and Jason Hammel, are indeed mates. Married with two young children, the duo might not have planned to raise a family while attempting to launch a successful band, but they seem to be managing both in stride.

In an interview last week with Boston.com, Hammell spoke of their unique situation: "We do have to worry about when these kids are eating and if they are receiving love and if they're tired and what time nap time is...," lightheartedly adding, "Yeah, it's just like 'rock 'n' roll [and] baby food? What?"

The band's popularity has steadily risen since 2006, when Mates of State toured with Spoon and Death Cab for Cutie . Those groups were among the acts the pair collaborated with on last year's release "Re-Arrange Us," which marked the Mates' fifth studio album since forming in 1997.

On Tuesday (4/7) LiveDaily's Peter Keeling attended Mates of State's show at the House of Blues in Boston, and here are some of his shots.
