Dan Deacon hits road with big band

Electronic performer Dan Deacon continues to line up dates for his currently in-progress spring tour, which features a huge live ensemble playing songs from Deacon's latest album, "Bromst."

The Baltimore-based musician, who kicked off the trek last week in New York City, continues the outing tonight (4/10) in Atlanta. About 30 dates remain on the tour, which runs through the middle of next month and concludes with a May 17 appearance in Washington, DC.

Deacon's current stage show features a 14-piece orchestra, including eight percussionists and three guitarists, performing material from "Bromst," which surfaced last month.

The new album, recorded in a unique home-studio space in Whitefish, MT, called Snow Ghost, was recorded partially live with the help of Deacon's current touring ensemble.

"Bromst" follows 2007's "Spiderman of the Rings," which earned the artist wide critical praise. The latter album's "The Crystal Cat" was ranked No. 84 on Rolling Stone's list of the 100 Best Songs of 2007.
