Casting Crowns take to the road

Christian rockers Casting Crowns will head out on a lengthy US trek this summer, performing hits from the group's four studio albums, including the most recent, 2007's "The Altar and the Door."

The 33-city road trip, which gets underway Thursday (5/14) in Asheville, NC, will concentrate on fairs and festivals throughout the South, Midwest and East Coast. The current slate of shows runs through the end of the year, wrapping up with a two-night stand Dec. 30-31 in Gatlinburg, TN. Details are shown below.

"The Altar and the Door," the Georgia-based group's most recent studio effort, surfaced in 2007, debuting at No. 2 on The Billboard 200 chart behind Disney's "High School Musical 2."

"People were asking us if we were disappointed because we weren't No. 1," guitarist Juan DeVevo explained to LiveDaily in a recent interview. "I thought, "If I have to come in second, if it's behind 'High School Musical 2, that's OK."

Last summer, the band released a live version of the album, entitled "The Altar and the Door: Live," followed in October by a holiday record, "Peace on Earth."

Casting Crowns recently took home three DOVE Awards: Group of the Year, Short Form Video and Christmas Album.
