Alejandro Escovedo continues supporting 'Real Animal'

Alejandro Escovedo will pound the pavement this summer behind his most recent release, last summer's "Real Animal."

The Texas-based Escovedo won three Austin Music Awards this year: Musician of the Year, Album of the Year for "Real Animal" and Songwriter of the Year. The True Believers, the 1980s rock band the musician fronted alongside Jon Dee Graham, were also inducted into the Hall of Fame at this year's awards ceremony.

"Real Animal," Escovedo's latest studio release on Back Porch Records, surfaced last June and peaked at No. 3 on Billboard's Top Heatseekers chart. The disc was also named the No. 1 record of 2008 by No Depression.

A live rendition of the album, dubbed "Live Animal," became available in November. The set was recorded at the Sirius Satellite Radio studios in New York City, according to the performer's website.
