New Zealand's Grammy-nominated comedy duo Flight of the Conchords wrapped up an eight-week North American tour with two shows on Monday (5/25), an event well-timed to coincide with the end of their second season of the hit HBO's show "Flight of the Conchords" and the release of their as-yet-untitled new album on Sub Pop Records.
The pair, Bret McKenzie and Jemaine Clement, started out performing in clubs around their home town of Wellington in the late '90s. In 2005, they released their first album, "Folk To The World," which became the subject of a six-part BBC Radio 2 series. Two years later they took home the Grammy for best comedy album with "The Distant Future."
Befitting a scene from "This Is Spinal Tap ," the venue's fire alarm was tripped during Monday's first show (twice) requiring the building to be evacuated. Luckily the crowd was in good humor and laughed it off. I was there with cameras in hand, and here are some of my photos.
