Pete Yorn ready to tour 'Back and Fourth'

With not one but two albums on the horizon, Pete Yorn has plans to promote the new efforts with a run of performances across the country this summer.

The official tour begins July 9 in San Diego and continues through late August, stopping by clubs and theaters along the way. The singer/songwriter has also confirmed two-night stands in New York (7/28-7/29), Chicago (8/3-8/4), Minneapolis (8/12-8/13) and Los Angeles (8/27-8/28). The full schedule is listed below.

During the tour, Yorn will be backed by his new band, which now consists of guitarists Jonny Polonsky, Mark Noseworthy and Zak Schaffer; keyboardist Joey Kennedy; and drummer Scott Seiver.

The outing will support "Back and Fourth," Yorn's fourth studio set, which hits shelves June 23 on Columbia Records. The record marks a production shift for the musician, who played virtually all of the instruments on his first three albums, but worked with drummer Joey Waronker (Beck), pianist/arranger Nate Wolcott (Bright Eyes, Rilo Kiley), bassist Joe Karnes (John Cale), backing vocalist Orenda Fink (Azure Ray) and Polonsky, his new guitarist on the new set.

Yorn will also perform the new material at a sold-out album-release show at LA's Roxy Theatre June 24.

In the fall, the performer will release "Break Up," an album of duets with actress/singer Scarlett Johansson. The nine-track record is set to drop Sept. 8, according to the project's website. Yorn penned eight of tracks, which chronicle a torrid love affair, after the concept came to him in a dream, according to The Guardian UK. The album's first single, "Relator," is currently streaming at the album's website.
