Tennessee emo-rockers Paramore , led by fiery frontwoman Hayley Williams, are debuting new material from their forthcoming fall release while on tour this summer opening for No Doubt.
Lead guitarist Josh Farro explained the band is performing two songs--"Ignorance" and "Where the Lines Overlap"--from Paramore's as-of-yet untitled third album.
"You can definitely hear some growth in them, I think," Farro said via telephone. "They don't stray too far from [the 2007 album] 'Riot!' We had to make sure we stayed in the same vein, as far as the genre goes. This just definitely sounds more mature. I think this time around in the studio we knew exactly what we wanted. We were really passionate about every single song. I think it definitely shows. Live, obviously people are just listening because they've never heard them before. It's a little awkward, but I think the response has been good."
For the album, Paramore, who nearly split in early 2008, developed 11 songs, leaving a handful of tunes unfinished.
"We decided we just wanted to focus on the ones we felt really strongly about," Farro said. "We were kind of in a time crunch. We didn't want to write 20 OK songs. We wanted to write 11 really great songs."
The set was produced by Rob Cavallo (Goo Goo Dolls, Green Day), whom Farro dubbed "amazing."
"He was perfect for our third record," Farro explained. "He was really relaxed, and really let us be ourselves on the record. He didn't try to force things down our throat. He was really cool. If he felt like we were going down the wrong path, he got us back to the right one."
