Indie rockers The Airborne Toxic Event will launch a world tour this summer, beginning with dates in the UK and Ireland, followed by a North American leg this fall.
The Los Angeles-based group kicks off the trek with a June 28 appearance at Summerfest in Milwaukee, WI, before heading overseas. After a few Midwest dates in August, the bulk of the band's American leg gets underway Sept. 17 in Pomona, CA. The 28-city fall outing stretches into November, winding down with a Nov. 2 show in San Francisco. US and Canada dates are below; the band's international itinerary can be found at the official Airborne Toxic Event website.
The five-piece group dropped its self-titled debut album last August on the Majordomo label. The set follows the band's debut single, "Does This Mean You're Moving On," released last year in the UK only, and a self-released EP consisting of demo versions of some of the material from the new album.
The album's second single, "Wishing Well," recently entered Billboard's Hot Modern Rock Tracks chart, while the album's first single, "Sometime Around Midnight," peaked at No. 4 on the Modern Rock list. Both songs are currently streaming at the band's MySpace page.
The group--Mikel Jollett (lead vocals), Daren Taylor (drums), Noah Harmon (bass), Steven Chen (guitar) and Anna Bulbrook (keyboards/violin)--formed in the summer of 2006, according to a press release, when Jollett and Taylor met and began working on songs as a two-piece before incorporating additional members into the group's mix.
