Aerosmith tour to include 'Toys' in full

Just two dates into their massive North American tour, arena rockers Aerosmith have announced that each summertime stop will include a performance of their 1975 album "Toys in the Attic" in its entirety.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Famers will continue the outing tonight (6/16) in Mansfield, MA, with tour mates ZZ Top joining the lineup beginning June 21 in Bristow, VA. The extensive journey, presented by "Guitar Hero: Aerosmith," will hit 39 cities across the nation through late September, including a headlining set Aug. 5 in Sturgis, SD, as part of the annual Bike Week events. The full schedule is listed below.

With sales of more than eight million copies, "Toys in the Attic" is a classic Aerosmith album, with featured tracks including "Walk This Way" and "Sweet Emotion."
Along with the record, the iconic rockers will also perform hits from their remaining discography, which spans nearly 40 years.

Though the outfit has no new album to back, Aerosmith is touring behind "Guitar Hero: Aerosmith," released by Activision last summer.

Earlier this month, the band announced that guitarist Brad Whitford would sit out for part of the forthcoming tour "as he recuperates from recent surgery," according to a prepared statement. No further details were given about what type of surgery Whitford endured. Guitarist Bobby Schneck--formerly of Green Day, Weezer and Slash--will fill in for Whitford during his absence.

In March, Aerosmith confirmed rumors of a forthcoming 15th studio album to be produced by Brendan O'Brien.

The band "realized there wasn't any chance of getting it finished before we hit the road for the summer," Joe Perry told Billboard.com in a March interview. "Basically, we had to push [the album] back, and when the band gets off the road, that's when we'll pick up the Aerosmith record."
