Madonna has tapped Paul Oakenfold to collaborate on new material for her forthcoming greatest-hits album, which is scheduled for a September release. In a statement, the renowned producer and DJ said the new songs are "cutting edge sounds combined with classic Madonna."
Oakenfold also will share the live stage with Madonna, opening for all of her "Sticky & Sweet" UK and European tour dates this summer, according to a press release. The Madonna dates are part of a lengthy world tour Oakenfold is about to embark upon, during which he will cross 25 countries in just over two months.
The UK-born Oakenfold also will commemorate his weekly residency at the Palms Hotel & Casino with a double CD, "Perfecto Vegas," scheduled to be released July 14. "Perfecto Vegas" features 21 tracks described in a press release as "less pop-leaning ... classic Oakenfold."
Apparently not resting on his laurels, Oakenfold also continues to work on a new original studio album, "Pop Killer," which will surface sometime next year. The project features collaborations with The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Ryan Tedder of OneRepublic and Ce-Lo.
Oakenfold also has contributed tracks to the upcoming Jerry Bruckheimer film "G-Force."
