Matt and Kim plot 'Grand' time on road

Indie-rock duo Matt and Kim have lined up a headlining dates through summer and into early fall as they continue to support their sophomore studio effort, "Grand."

The pair of Matt Johnson (vocals/keyboards) and Kim Schifino (drums/vocals) will kick off the summer portion of the jaunt Wednesday (7/1) in Asheville, NC. The tour winds across 28 cities over the next few months, wrapping up Oct. 2 in Buffalo, NY. Dates are below.

"Grand," which surfaced in January, was recorded entirely in Johnson's childhood home in Vermont. For the new album, which follows their self-titled 2006 debut, Matt and Kim used instruments ranging from a melodica (a tiny piano that a musician blows into) to a standard piano, in lieu of a synthesizer.

"We just did so much different instrumentation," Johnson recently told LiveDaily. "Going into this, we believed a good recorded song and a good live song are two very different things. We just recorded our songs like we played them live on the last record. We just wanted to make the best recorded album.

"After so long of not making a recording and working so long on this album, we're pretty pleased [with how] it came out."
