M. Ward takes 'Time' through summer

Singer/songwriter M. Ward has lined up a run of summer headlining dates as he continues to support his most recent studio album, "Hold Time."

The tour gets underway July 22 with the first show in a four-night engagement in Carrboro, NC. In August, Ward will appear in New York City's Central Park with special guests Nels Cline (Wilco) and Mike Watt (The Stooges, Minutemen). Dates are below.

Surfacing in February, "Hold Time" is Ward's sixth studio album in a solo recording career that dates back to 1999's "Duet for Guitars #2." The forthcoming set features guest appearances from Lucinda Williams, Grandaddy's Jason Lytle, Tom Hagerman of DeVotchka, and Zooey Deschanel, Ward's collaborator in the duo She & Him.

The title track from the new album is streaming at Ward's website. Streaming cuts from Ward's previous album, 2006's "Post War," can be found at the singer's MySpace page.

In an interview with Paste Magazine last fall, Ward mentioned that a new She & Him record--tentatively titled "Volume Two"--is in the works. "Zooey has about a gazillion brand new awesome songs," Ward said. "All we know about 'Volume Two' is that it's going to be twice as good as 'Volume One.'"
