Sick Puppies chart summer trip ahead of new album

Australian alt-rock trio Sick Puppies will kick off a lengthy summer tour this week as they prepare for the impending release of their third studio album, "Tripolar."

The band kicks off the outing tonight (7/8) in Pomona, CA, and will hit close to 50 cities during the trek, which runs through mid-September. Dates are below.

"Tripolar," the band's third studio album, is due in stores July 14. The set follows 2007's "Dressed Up as Life," which broke the band into the The Billboard 200 at No. 181.

The album's first single, "You're Going Down," was featured by the WWE as the official theme song of the wrestling organization's recent "WWE Extreme Rules" pay-per-view event.

"I think our next record's going to be sick," singer/guitarist Shimon Moore told LiveDaily last year about the then in-progress new album. "Everything's going to be more emphasized. The lyrics are going to be even more focused. The storytelling, it's going to be more to the point and honest. The riffs are going to be heavier. The melodies are going to be more lush. I don't want to take it to an extravagant place--but I definitely want to stretch our legs a little bit and really sort of explore, getting really deep into it."
