Saliva continue 'Cinco Diablo' push this summer

Memphis-based rock outfit Saliva will head out on a US summer tour this week to canvas the nation through mid-September behind last year's "Cinco Diablo."

Beginning July 17 in Cadott, WI, the alt-metal rockers will visit festivals, fairs and theaters in 30 cities from coast to coast, including stops in Cleveland (7/24), Las Vegas (8/2), Cincinnati (8/28) and Flint, MI (9/5), among others. The road trip winds down with a Sept. 11 performance in Libertyville, IL. The full schedule is below.

"Cinco Diablo," the band's most recent release, surfaced last December and peaked at No. 104 on The Billboard 200.

"We got so much mileage out of our heavy stuff on the 'Blood Stained Love Story' tour, so much of our stuff was used for NFL stuff and movie soundtracks in 2008 and 2007 that we just wanted to see if we could write a heavy record," frontman Josey Scott told LiveDaily in a December 2008 interview. "It still has all the peaks and valleys of a Saliva record, but it's predominantly heavy, I would say."

"Hunt You Down," a track from the group's sixth studio set, became the official theme song for the WWE's No Way Out 2009 pay-per-view wrestling match in February.

In late March, frontman Scott underwent emergency surgery to repair a hemorrhaged ulcer, causing the band to cancel several concerts, including a headlining run alongside Static X on the SnoCore tour.

Scott has since recuperated and will be performing for the summer shows.
