MTV, the cable channel that helped propel Michael Jackson to solo stardom, will mark its 28th birthday this weekend by paying tribute to the late King of Pop with a trio of new shows.
Set to air tomorrow (8/1), the block of specials will begin at noon ET/PT with a half-hour program dubbed "Michael Jackson's Human Nature" featuring "candid stories from the pop icon's friends and colleagues about Michael Jackson the human being, rather than the entertainer," according to a press release.
"Michael Jackson's Top 10 Video Countdown," a 90-minute set of the performer's groundbreaking music videos, will follow, and will feature facts and trivia about each video, as well as rare interview footage of Jackson discussing his singles.
"Michael Jackson's Influence on Music," an hour-long special featuring a "collection of the top videos from the many artists who have been influenced by the King of Pop," will cap things off. Justin Timberlake and Usher are among the artists whose work will be featured.
Following the three all-new programs, MTV will air an encore presentation of "America's Best Dance Crew - Michael Jackson'sThriller," which features dance crews celebrating the 25th anniversary of Jackson's "Thriller" by choreographing their own moves to tracks from the landmark album.
