U2 will perform a free, hour-long set at New York's Irving Plaza on Dec. 5. Only 1,000 people will attend the concert, sponsored by radio station WXRK, also known as 92.3 K-Rock.
Tickets will be awarded to holders of the radio station's "92 Free Card" who call the station at designated times. More details about the contest and about the "92 Free Card" are available on the K-Rock website.
"No high definition video screens, no hi tech lighting, no extravagant sound systems--this is VERY lo-fi," a Friday (11/17) announcement on the station's website said.
U2 released its ninth studio album, "All that you Can't Leave Behind," on Oct. 31. The band isn't expected to launch a U.S. tour behind the album until March.
