Kittie , Les Claypool ’s Frog Brigade, Fear Factory and others will hit the road next month as part of annual SnoCore festival, according to the tour's publicist. Unlike previous years’ outings, SnoCore 2001 will actually comprise two separate, simultaneous tours, one featuring a group of eclectic artists and the other featuring heavier rock acts.
The eclectic SnoCore Icicle Ball is set to begin in Las Vegas on Jan. 17, and will be co-headlined by New Orleans jazz-funk ensemble Galactic, and Les Claypool's Frog Brigade, one of the Primus frontman's many side projects. That jaunt will also feature opening act Lake Trout through Feb. 4, and Drums and Tuba beginning Feb. 5 through the tour’s final Feb. 23 Atlanta stop.
Two days after the SnoCore Icicle Ball jaunt gets underway, SnoCore Rock is set to hit the road with a Jan. 19 show in Las Vegas. The hard-rock outing will feature Fear Factory, Kittie, The Union Underground, Slaves on Dope, and Boy Hits Car. SnoCore Rock is scheduled to wrap up in New Jersey on Feb. 17.
Both factions of the SnoCore 2001 festival will cover most of the U.S., and are set to play in many of the same markets within days of each other.
Tickets for both SnoCore 2001 outings are scheduled to go on sale on Friday (12/15) at 1 p.m. Eastern Time, and will be available through ARTISTdirect.com, Ticketmaster.com and at all Ticketmaster outlets, according to a tour press release. Additionally, ARTISTdirect will host an Internet pre-sale on Thursday (12/14) beginning at 2 p.m. Eastern Time. (LiveDaily is a publication of Ticketmaster-Citysearch.)
ARTISTdirect, the tour's sponsor, plans to launch a website for the event at snocore.artistdirect.com on Dec. 20. The site will feature up-to-date news and information on the tour, links to all of the tour's artists' web sites, SnoCore-related contests and ticket giveaways, and audio and video downloads, according to a press release. The company’s co-founders purchased an interest in the festival tour in 1997.
Last year’s SnoCore outing featured System of a Down, Incubus, Mr. Bungle and Puya.
