New Santana album targeted for fall release
Carlos Santana plans to return to the studio in May to begin work on the follow up to his wildly successful 1999 release “Supernatural,” according to his publicist. The new album should completed by this fall.
“I’m going to be a daddy/husband until May,” Santana said in a prepared statement. “My main goal is still to create music that will dismantle violence and, hopefully, work with other musicians that have that kind of intention.”
“Supernatural” was a recipient of the Recording Industry Association of America’s Diamond Award for shipping more than 10 million units.
Santana dominated the 42nd Annual Grammy Awards, taking home a record-tying eight trophies for “Supernatural.” He had won only one Grammy--1988's Best Rock Instrumental Category for "Blues for Salvador"--prior to the 2000 ceremony.
