Ozzfest ’s official website has revealed more details about this year’s tour headed up by Black Sabbath and Disturbed.
The two-month jaunt kicks off on June 8 in Chicago and wraps up on Aug. 12 in Holmdel, NJ. The main stage lineup includes Black Sabbath, Marilyn Manson, Slipknot, Papa Roach, Linkin Park and Crazytown. Disturbed headlines the second stage; the following bands will perform on either the second or third stage: Mudvayne, Cold, Taproot, Union Underground, Nonpoint, Black Label Society, American Head Charge, Pure Rubbish, Hatebreed, Drowning Pool, Systematic, Beautiful Creatures, Boy Hits Car, Godhead and Otep. One more act will be named to one of the subsidiary stages.
The first batch of tickets, for shows in Somerset, Wisc., and Cleveland go on sale this Friday (3/16).
According to Ozzfest’s website, a handful of venues are removing 500 seats to allow for a "Purgatory Pit" in front of the stage in which fans can mosh. Pit tickets go on sale via the website on the day before the pavilion, lawn and leftover pit tickets are available to the public. An exclusive T-shirt for Pit Pass holders will be included and sent with the tickets.
This year’s tour makes one European stop--May 26 at the 50,000-capacity Milton Keynes Bowl in the U.K. Black Sabbath, Slipknot, Tool and Papa Roach are confirmed for that show, and tickets are on sale through Buyupfront.com.
Slated for release March 27, "Ozzfest: Second Stage Live" gathers 10 tracks from the likes of Kittie, Taproot, Ozzy Osbourne ("I Don’t Know") and Soulfly. A bonus re-issue of the original Ozzfest live album--featuring Coal Chamber, Powerman 5000, Osbourne and Slayer--is packaged with it.
