Briefly News and Comment: Sade, AC/DC and Area: One tour updates

Sade has added to her itinerary an Aug. 19 show in Auburn Hills, Mich. Tickets go on sale on Saturday (5/5).

Two AC/DC performances--one that was to take place on Tuesday (5/1) in Madison, Wis., and one scheduled for Wednesday (5/2) in Detroit--have been postponed because frontman Brian Johnson is suffering from throat problems, according to promoters. The band plans to reschedule the dates.

DJ Derrick May has been added to the Area: One tour lineup.

Scott Weiland said that his band, Stone Temple Pilots , will headline this year's Family Values tour, according to VH1.com. Tour organizers reportedly said that they aren't ready to make any announcements about the lineup.

Major labels EMI and BMG ended their merger attempt on Tuesday (5/1), according to CNN's financial network. EMI reportedly would have had to "sell prized businesses to get antitrust approval."

Monday's (4/30) Salon.com lead with a story on Clear Channel Communication, owner of the most radio stations in America. The story mentions a February event in Tampa, in which "WXTB morning man Todd Clem, who has the on-air handle 'Bubba the Love Sponge,' broadcast the killing of a live boar from the station's parking lot. WXTB posted pictures of the blood-soaked stunt on its Web site. It was the third time in a year that an animal was killed or tortured on-air at a Clear Channel station."

According the Associated Press, the Country Music Association (CMA) is planning a promotional campaign with this as the slogan:
