Charlatans U.K. reschedule North American tour itinerary

update: After canceling a string of autumn shows and staying put in England following the Sept. 11 attacks, Brit-pop veterans Charlatans U.K. have announced a new string of 14 North American dates in support of the band's critically lauded seventh album, "Wonderland."

This will be the band's most extensive North America tour in three years; a short jaunt of club dates preceded the release of "Wonderland" last July. The tour will lean heavily on "Wonderland," as well as on singles and album tracks from the band's 12-year recording career.

Last summer's dates were typically generous, two-hour affairs in which the band retained its trademark organ-heavy sound while adding up-to-date techno grooves and lead singer Tim Burgess's newfound falsetto. The band concluded sets with an extended version of "Sproston Green," from its 1989 debut, "Some Friendly."
