Black Crowes' Hawrysch Recovering From Surgery
Black Crowes keyboardist Eddie Hawrysch was recovering from emergency surgery in Brussels, Belgium on Monday after undergoing emergency surgery for a twisted intestine. Hawrysch, 42, was rushed to a hospital following the group's June 24th show in Cologne, Germany.
The Black Crowes performed a pair of previously scheduled weekend shows in London over the weekend, their first performances without Hawrysch in nine years, according to the band's publicists.
The band honored his absence by placing a six-foot inflatable green alien at his keyboard. According to a written statement, the alien will remain at Hawrysch's keyboard until he is fit to return to the stage. Hawrysch is expected to stay in Europe where the band is touring during his recuperation.
The Crowes' weekend shows included a Wembley Stadium performance with Aerosmith and Lenny Kravitz and a club show with Jimmy Page benefitting children's charity groups.
