George Strait has scheduled his first two arena concerts in five years. Tickets for both go on sale early next month.
On Feb. 28, Strait will play at the Cajundome in Lafayette, La., followed by a March 1 concert at the Pyramid Arena in Memphis, Tenn. Tickets for both shows are scheduled to hit the box office on Feb. 2, according to Strait's official website.
After spending the past four years atop the bill of his multi-act George Strait Country Music Festival tour (which grossed a combined total of about $100 million), Strait plans to take this summer off, heading out on a 20- to 25-date headlining arena run in the fall, according to Billboard Bulletin.
Strait is touring in support of his November release, "The Road Less Traveled" (MCA Nashville), which debuted at No. 1 on Billboard's Top Country Albums chart and at No. 9 on the Billboard 200 album chart. The album has sold about 521,000 copies to date, according to industry sources.
The country singer will cap this year's multi-day RodeoHouston event with a sold-out March 3 performance.
