Singer and actress Liza Minnelli --one of very few entertainers whose mantle boasts a Tony, Oscar, Golden Globe and Emmy award--has scheduled a limited run of concert dates for February.
Minnelli's tour includes a three-night engagement at New York's Westbury Music Fair with her "Cabaret" co-star Joel Grey. Grey will open the shows, and will also perform with Minnelli, but he isn't scheduled to appear on Minnelli's other dates.
Last October, Minnelli released a live album titled "Liza's Back." The album--a mix of new songs and standards--was recorded during a week of shows at New York's Beacon Theater in the summer of 2002.
The Beacon Theater run marked Minnelli's return to the stage after battling viral encephalitis--a sometimes fatal disease that causes swelling of the brain--various surgeries, and an addiction to pain killers.
Minnelli--the daughter of performer Judy Garland and director Vincente Minnelli--married producer David Gest in a much-publicized 2002 ceremony.
She and Gest also made news in 2002 when they filed a $23 million breach-of-contract suit against VH1 after the cable network pulled the plug on a planned reality series. VH1 claimed that the couple refused to give the network "the cooperation and access" it was promised.
