Pianist-singer Ben Folds supports his recently released set, "Ben Folds Live," with a spring tour of the college circuit.
During the outing, Folds plans to perform new songs that he has written for his next studio album, according to his website.
Released last October, Folds' live album was recorded during his inaugural solo tour, which ran from February through July of last year. The set's 17 tracks were culled from a number of different stops on the run.
"The shows felt pretty special from the onset--I had never done a solo piano tour before--so we quickly mobilized 8 tracks of portable recording equipment and recorded nearly every show," Folds said in a statement.
Folds, the former leader of the pop group Ben Folds Five , released his debut solo effort, "Rockin' the Suburbs," in the fall of 2001. His now-defunct eponymous group released five albums before breaking up in the fall of 2000.
