50 Cent to drop new DVD during ongoing tour

Rapper 50 Cent has extended into late May his tour behind his chart-topping debut, "Get Rich or Die Tryin'," and is due to release a new DVD on April 15.

Titled "The New Breed," the DVD features live performances and behind-the-scenes footage, as well as a bonus CD that houses previously unreleased tracks, according to 50 Cent's website. Samples of the DVD's footage are posted at the website.

"Get Rich or Die Tryin'" arrived in stores in February, and spent five of its first six weeks at the top of the Billboard 200 album chart. The album has sold almost 4 million copies to date.

Following his spring U.S. outing, 50 Cent heads to Europe for a June tour with Eminem. The two return to the states for a pair of shows at Ford Field in Detroit on July 12 and 13.

50 Cent burst onto the rap scene late last year thanks to the hit-single "Wanksta," featured on the soundtrack to the Eminem film "8 Mile." Eminem and Dr. Dre , the executive producers on "Get Rich or Die Tryin'," signed 50 Cent after Eminem took a liking to a mix tape that featured the rapper.

Prior to hooking up with Eminem and Dre, 50 Cent had a couple of false starts in the recording industry, first on the late Jam Master Jay's indie label and subsequently on Columbia. Columbia dropped the rapper following an incident in which he was shot nine times.
