R.E.M. has revamped its fall tour schedule, adding two cities to the jaunt and changing several venues.
The modern-rock architects are now set to open their first North American tour in four years with a just-announced Aug. 29 show in Vancouver, British Columbia. Also new to the itinerary is an Aug. 31 show in Missoula, MT. Wilco supports on both of the new dates.
R.E.M. had been scheduled to play shows at New Jersey's Liberty State Park on Oct. 3 and 4; those shows will instead take place at Long Island's Jones Beach Theatre and New York City's Madison Square Garden. The confirmed itinerary at press time, as well as the opening acts, can be found below.
In other R.E.M. news, the group has opened a section on its official website where fans are asked to suggest songs for the set list in each city that the tour visits.
R.E.M., which has been working on a new studio album in Vancouver of late, opens a European tour in late June. The album is slated to hit stores in early 2004.
The group will precede the new album with the Oct. 27 release of "In Time: The Best of R.E.M.: 1988-2003." The set will include the new tracks "Bad Day" and "Animal."
According to the band's website, director Tim Hope recently shot a video for "Bad Day" in Vancouver.
