
Bob Dylan 's "Love and Theft" album is under scrutiny of late after reports that a fan who lives in Japan discovered that several of the album's lyrics are very similar to passages in the obscure book "Confessions of a Yakuza" by Japanese author Junichi Saga.
According to a Wall Street Journal report, Saga is flattered and has no plans to file a lawsuit. Dylan hasn't commented.
Dylan fan Chris Johnson has posted the alleged similarities at the website dylanchords.com.
Rapper Beanie Sigel --in connection with an April 20 arrest in which he allegedly tossed a gun out of his vehicle's window during a traffic stop--was charged on Wednesday (7/9) with being a felon in possession of a firearm, and is expected to remain in jail until a Monday (7/14) hearing.
He is also due in court on Monday for a preliminary hearing on charges that he shot a man in West Philadelphia last week.
Tenacious D issues a DVD titled "The Masterworks" on Sept. 9. It compiles the duo's 2002 performance at London's Brixton Academy, its HBO series, behind-the scenes footage, music videos and other goodies.
Frank Black, asked by London's XFM radio about the possibility that influential alt-rock group The Pixies might reunite, reportedly said: "We might. We (bassist Kim Deal, drummer David Lovering and guitarist Joey Santiago) do get together and have private jams together, but not for public consumption."
Two Bob Marley home-video releases--the 1991 best-of collection, "Legend," which features 13 videos, and the 1992 documentary "Time Will Tell"--will be combined into a single DVD. The package, which will also feature footage that didn't appear in the original documentary--is set for release on July 29.
