Jars of Clay fill up on tour dates, ready new album
As the release date for their new album approaches, Jars of Clay pack their gear for a fall road trip in support of the set.
The Christian-pop quartet launches the run at the end of October, and is booked to play a mix of U.S. churches, colleges and theaters. Fellow contemporary Christian outfit Caedmon's Call holds down the opening slot.
The tour's start comes just days before the Nov. 4 release of Jars of Clay's sixth album, "Who We Are Instead." The album's first single is titled "Show You Love."
"Who We Are Instead" comes just eight months after "Furthermore: From the Studio/From the Stage," a two-disc set the group issued in February. The collection's first disc features live material, while the second houses updated versions of previously released cuts, along with three original tracks.
In August, guitar manufacturer Taylor Guitars unveiled a new Jars of Clay signature-model guitar. The company is donating a portion of the proceeds from sales of the guitar to the band's recently launched foundation The Blood:Water Mission, according to a statement.
The Blood:Water Mission provides funding for "grassroots medical facilities in Africa in order to increase the medical support to those communities that are battling the HIV/AIDS crisis on that continent," according to a press release. More information is available at the foundation's website.
Jars of Clay broke into the mainstream rock scene with the hit "Flood." The single helped the group sell more than two million copies of its self-titled 1995 album. The group's follow-up set, 1997's "Much Afraid," won a GRAMMY® for Best Contemporary Gospel Album.
