Elton John books 75-show run in Las Vegas
Elton John takes over The Colosseum at Las Vegas' Caesars Palace in early 2004 for the first of 75 concerts that he'll give there during the next three years.
John's first batch of dates at the venue takes place from Feb. 13 through Feb. 22. Tickets for those shows hit the box office on Wednesday (10/22), with prices set at $100, $175 and $250, according to organizers.
The Colosseum is the 4,100-seat room built for singer Celine Dion , who began a multi-year residence at the venue earlier this year. No seat is further than 120 feet from the stage, according to John's website.
Backing John during his performances will be his band: guitarist Davey Johnstone, keyboardist Guy Babylon, bassist Bob Birch, percussionist John Mahon and drummer Nigel Olsson.
Photographer and director David LaChappelle will serve as the designer and director of John's production, which is dubbed "The Red Piano." LaChappelle will "blend Elton's breathtaking music with vibrant visual imagery making these Colosseum engagements a unique spectacular unlike any previous Elton John performance," according to a press release.
John is currently in the midst of a world tour that includes a handful of November U.S. tour dates.
