With the kick-off date of his North American run quickly approaching, veteran singer Rod Stewart has tacked more shows onto his schedule.
Stewart launches the outing in Ft. Lauderdale on Feb. 6, and is scheduled to hit arenas throughout the U.S. and Canada through late April. Tickets for many shows are already on sale, and additional shows will be announced.
Fans can expect to hear material from all eras of Stewart's lengthy career, according to organizers; the set list is expected to include hits such as Maggie May," "Tonight's the Night," "You're In My Heart," "Forever Young," "Downtown Train," "Do Ya Think I'm Sexy" and "Have I Told You Lately."
The tour is Stewart's first since 2001, and is his second outing since undergoing thyroid surgery in 2000. The surgery, which took place after doctors detected cancer, left Stewart unable to sing for several months.
Stewart is hitting the road in support of his double-platinum October release, "The Great American Songbook: Volume II." The set, which is Stewart's second collection of pop standards, features his renditions of "I'm in the Mood for Love," "Smile," "As Time Goes By," "I Only Have Eyes for You," "Someone to Watch Over Me," "Til' There was You" and "Bewitched, Bothered, and Bewildered," a duet with Cher.
"Volume II" is the follow-up to 2002's "It Had To Be You ... The Great American Songbook," which sold more than 4 million copies worldwide, according to Stewart's camp.
