Beyoncé, Alicia Keys and Missy Elliott join forces during spring tour
Three of the top-selling women in R&B/hip-hop--singer Beyoncé Knowles, singer/pianist Alicia Keys and rapper Missy Elliott --team up this spring for a run on the U.S. arena circuit.
The trio plans to launch the month-long outing in Ft. Lauderdale on March 12, and the itinerary is currently scheduled to wrap up in Oakland, CA, on April 18. Communications behemoth Verizon is sponsoring the run, according to Knowles' manager.
Knowles is backing her debut solo effort, "Dangerously in Love," which surfaced last June. The album has earned the Destiny's Child singer six Grammy nominations: Record of the Year ("Crazy in Love"), Best Female R&B Performance ("Dangerously in Love"), Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal ("The Closer I Get to You" with Luther Vandross), Best R&B Song ("Crazy in Love"), Best Contemporary R&B Album and Best Rap/Sung Collaboration ("Crazy in Love" featuring Jay-Z).
On Sunday (2/1), Knowles is scheduled to perform the National Anthem at Super Bowl XXXVIII, which will air on CBS.
Keys delivered her sophomore set, "The Diary of Alicia Keys," last month. The album debuted in the top slot on The Billboard 200 chart thanks to first-week sales of about 618,000 copies.
Elliott's fifth full-length, "This Is Not a Test!," arrived in stores last November, and features the cut "Pass That Dutch." The album is the follow-up to 2002's "Under Construction," for which Elliott is nominated in six categories at this year's Grammy awards.
The Grammys take place in Los Angeles on Feb. 8, and will air live on CBS.
