Saliva whets fans' appetites with pre-release tour

Memphis-based rockers Saliva are set to drop their third album later this summer, but a round of summer tour dates comes first.

The group has lined up a mix of headlining dates and festival appearances, most of which take place in June and July. Also on tap are a handful of August, September and October shows, including opening sets for ZZ Top and Kid Rock. Details are shown below.

Fans heading to the shows can expect to hear material from Saliva's forthcoming album, "Survival of the Sickest," which is due in stores on Aug. 17. The set's title track is streaming at the band's website.

"It's all about the rock this time," guitarist Chris Dibaldo said of the album in a recent journal entry posted at the group's site. "The gloves are off and we are making a record hard rock fans will be proud of."

"Survival of the Sickest" is the follow-up to Saliva's 2002 sophomore set, "Back Into Your System."
