Jimmy Buffett will open a tour of select U.S. venues on Nov. 30 at the Ice Palace in Tampa, and will wind up the year with an all-night New Year's Eve show at Universal Amphitheater in Los Angeles.
Buffett's schedule also includes two shows in West Palm Beach, Fla., and arena shows in Orlando, New Orleans and Houston. Tickets for most shows go on sale Saturday (10/16).
The New Year's Eve event, ''Buffett By The Beach,'' is scheduled for Dec. 31 from 7 p.m. until dawn. The festivities will open with dancing, featuring the Fredy Omar Latin Dance Band, a 7-piece salsa outfit. Buffett and his Coral Reefers will ring in the new year, after which the dance floors will re-open as New York-based R&B band the Stingers close the event. Ticket prices for ''Buffett By The Beach'' range from $500 to $1,500, and include ''drinks, dinner and party favors,'' according to promoter Universal Concerts. Heated party tents will be set up outside the venue.
In other Buffett news, ''Buffett Live/Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays'' -- a live album recorded during the final leg of Buffett's summer tour -- is scheduled for release on Nov. 9. According to Billboard, the album will be the first released by Mail Boat Records, a new independently-distributed label created by Buffett.
Buffett's most recent album, ''Beach House on the Moon,'' was released in the spring of 1999 on Buffett's Margaritaville imprint, which is distributed by Island Records.
