BT , Particle and Dan "The Automator" Nakamura head up this summer's United Beats of Peace Tour.
Sponsored by Earthdance Foundation, the 20-date run kicks off in mid-August and touches down at clubs and theaters through mid-September. Joining the bill's three headliners are Afro hip-hop collective Chris Berry & Panjea and producer/remixer DJ Peas.
In addition to music, each United Beats of Peace tour stop will feature speakers, voter registration, environmentally conscious companies and local non-profit organizations in each city, "with the intention to inspire people to become pro-active in their own communities."
The non-profit Earthdance Foundation requires each local promoter to donate at least 50% of the profits from the tour to a local charity, according to the foundation's website.
The outing serves, in part, as a run-up to the eighth annual Earthdance Global Gathering, set for Sept. 18. Organizers describe the day as a "24-hour international celebration [that] is the world's largest synchronized music and dance event, bringing together people in more than 120 cities and 50 countries," according to a press release.
"The defining moment of Earthdance is a synchronized link-up when The 'Prayer for Peace' music track is played at the same moment at each event around the world," organizers said in the release. The song is available as a free MP3 download from Earthdance's website.
