Spanish pop singer Alejandro Sanz was the big winner at Wednesday night's (9/1) Latin Grammy Awards, racking up trophies in all four categories for which he was nominated.
Sanz, who wasn't at the ceremony, scored wins for Record of the Year, Album of the Year, Song of the Year and Best Male Pop Vocal Album, all for his 2003 album, "No es lo Mismo," and its title track.
Sanz adds the four trophies to a case that already holds seven previous Latin Grammys; the 11 awards make him the top Latin Grammy winner of all time.
Additionally, "No es lo Mismo" won the award for best-engineered album, an honor that went to engineers Mick Guzauski, Rafa Sardina and Pepo Sherman.
The night's other multiple-award winners were Maria Rita , who scored for Best New Artist, and also won the award for most-popular Brazillian album; and Cafe Tacuba , whose "Eres" topped the Best Rock Song category, and whose "Cuatro Caminos" won for Best Alternative Music Album.
A total of 43 awards were handed out. Winners were selected by votes from the approximately 3,000 members of the Latin Recording Academy. A complete list of winners appears below.
